House Tour: Charlene of Plain Zane

Posted by darlingdarleenadmin on

Plain Zane designer Charlene let me snap a few (okay… alot) pictures of her modern and green loft-style home. Her style is chic, and she does a great job of mixing rustic with modern. I love to visit because there is always something new to see at least in her home office studio, which stylishly displays all her Plain Zane goods.

Note that I took the pictures during a lunch/pool playdate, so nothing is staged or prepped for the photos. This is how great her house looks. Her furniture is mixed and many pieces come from West Elm, ZGallerie and Ikea.

Large windows, high ceilings and concrete floors give the house a loft feeling. But the house is warmed up with throw rugs and casual paintings. I love her white leather sectional.
Modern kitchen. Glass jars with candy and colorful fruit draw the eyes up to the large “keep calm and carry on” painting. Don’t forget to buy gladiolus flowers this summer and put it in a colorful vase.

She bought the rustic table with benches at World Market for a steal. Perfect for children. The paper light fixture is an Ingo Maurer design.
The front door is a glass garage door. Very loft appropriate. Plain Zane little girl sample skirts hang for display. Which reminds me! For as long as I can remember our garage door has not been working correctly. No matter how hard we try, it just will not close fully! Our friends in Illinois have gone through something similar but were telling us just the other day that after searching for a company that specializes in Garage door repair in addison, they were able to call out an expert to get it fixed. We will have to find someone close to us who is up to the job pretty soon, I think. Otherwise, we might not be able to use our garage. That wouldn’t be great to be honest, so I should probably get some recommendations soon. My friends have been super helpful, they even suggested using Coastal Garage Doors as well, but I’m still debating when we need to get someone and obviously, it also depends on how far away they live from us.

More samples of little girl aprons, dresses and onesies. So cute!

Chalk paint breaks up the large wall in the children’s playroom.

Ultra-chic swimming pool. I think this is my favourite part of the whole house! Apparently, they had a company install the pool and then Charlene’s hubby concreted around it himself to save money. I couldn’t believe it was just normal concrete as it looks so good, but he covered it with a solvent sealer which is what gives it the glossy finish (and also protects it from the pool chemicals, so they said). This pool is definitely kid friendly and not too deep.
