What to Wear and bring to the Beach: Florida style.  Heading to the beach this summer?  Good idea!  We just got back from a fun family beach trip to the South Walton Beaches in Florida aka 30A.  White soft sand and blue water.  My favorite!  I’m going to show you some of the outfits I wore and suggestions on what to bring on your next beach trip.  One of my favorite items were these crochet shorts (similar) that I picked up from Fab’rik.  They were comfortable and easy to match with tank tops or just to pull over my bathing suit.  This is an easy guide for packing and deciding what to wear and bring to the beach.

beach styles, clothes, what to wear to the beach

Gladiator Sandals: Fab’rik (but can buy here) || Aztec Tank Top: Fab’rik ||
Beach bag: Kate Spade Outlet (similar) || Clarkson Earrings: Darleen Meier Jewelry
Bring breezy tank tops.  When it is hot outside it’s nice not to be restricted by tight clothing.  It also feels good when the wind blows and you can feel cool air against your body.
Crochet shorts or tassel shorts.  These are so in right now but most importantly, they are comfortable.  I wore my crochet shorts all the time.  I want to get some tassel shorts…or at least make some!
Gladiator sandals.  I didn’t really wear mine on the beach but I did around the beach towns like when we went to lunch or dinner or shopping.  These ones are so comfortable and just a fun accent to the outfit.
Canvas beach bag. Canvas is the best at the beach.  They can get wet and sandy, and it makes it easy to clean off.  I have a large canvas bag that I use for my kids and then I like to bring a smaller canvas bag for all my valuables (keys, phone, camera, money).  Then that bag is easy to take when you head into town.

Striped Shorts: Zara || Fringe Tank Top: Zara || Sunglasses: Moschino
Leather Stud Sandals: Tory Burch (old) (similar) || Earrings: Darleen Meier Jewelry
Wear Stripes.  Bring something with stripes: shirt, dress, skirt.  Stripes scream summer.  They remind me of my summer days in Cape Cod when we lived in Connecticut.  You can never go wrong with a striped shirt.  I love to also dress my kids in stripes when we head to the beach.
Fringe. Whether it be a bag, skirt or tank top, fringe is big this season.  My simple black tank top with fringe really dressed it up.
Wear a Hat.  Don’t go to the beach without wearing a hat.  Protect your face!  Enough said.  I bought my panama hat last season and it’s still going strong.  I didn’t leave the house without my hat and wore it every time I was outside.  Stay away wrinkles and sun damage!

Eyelet dress: Old Navy || Cuff Bracelet: Darleen Meier Jewelry || Metallic Tattoos: Lulu dK
Throw a Dress or Skirt in Your Beach Bag.  Whenever I head to the beach, I like to put in a skirt or dress in my beach bag, just in case we head from the beach to dinner.  Many times the only time I get back to the place we are staying is at night.  We usually stay at the beach until dusk then grab dinner on the way home.  If your family rolls like that, throw a skirt or dress in your bag as a quick way of freshening up.
Wear a Braid.  If your hair is long enough, put a braid in your hair to tame frizzy or fly away beach hair.  There is no way to control my thick hair at the beach.  It becomes an out-of-control mop, so I like to put it into a braid.
Don’t forget to Accessorize.  Yes!  You can wear jewelry at the beach.  I do it all the time!  Of course, I don’t wear it in the ocean and I don’t wear large pieces.  But dainty, simple necklaces and light earrings or simple bracelets are okay in my opinion.  This past beach trip, we had fun with metallic tattoos we bought at one of the boutiques in Seaside.  My girls loved it.  And we ended up with a cool tan-lined shape from the tattoos.

Tunic:  Nordstorm Rack || Sunglasses: Ray-Ban || Flip-Flops:  Tory Burch
Wear a Tunic.  Beach tunics are seriously my favorite.  They are comfortable, forgiving and protect you when you’ve had just a little too much sun exposure, without making you hot.  I like to wear a size larger so I get more breeze and air in the tunic.
Gel Nails.  Want to keep your nails look pretty on your trip?  Get a gel manicure.  They will be looking fresh even after a week at the beach.  Is it just me but do you think the ocean and sand make your nails stronger?
So, what beach are you heading to this summer?  What are you going to wear and bring to the beach?
